What are You growing in me at this time?
Your identity in Jesus is the root of your emotional and spiritual stability.
Beloved, do you know who you are?
James warns you that the foundation of instability comes from being in two minds about who you are (James 1:6-8). When you are in two minds you get pulled in many directions and lack the focus to move properly in the Spirit. You become vulnerable in every circumstance. You are easily intimidated and talked out of the blessings of God.
Everything in your life is best viewed from the position of your identity in Jesus. If you are in Him, then so are all your circumstances. Think about the difference between your state and your standing. Your state is how you see yourself when you take your eyes off Jesus. Emotions might get caught up in the mental filters through which you see the world and become vulnerable to negativity. Instead of believing who Jesus says you are, and walking that out, you have believed someone else’s opinion of who you are and are walking that out instead.
Your standing is how you see yourself in Jesus. In your standing, the passion of Jesus for you empowers your emotions as you understand how He thinks of you and as you experience how He sees you. Joy and rejoicing are always available because you are aligned with the Father’s perception of Jesus in you. This is where the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit teach you their ways in the process of learning how to live, in their nature, in all of life’s circumstances.
In your standing, you keep all your thinking within the boundaries of God’s love, His kindness, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. Then you will be empowered by His goodness toward you and your emotions will come from a heart of rejoicing and gratitude.
